An English lady falls for an American air force sergeant in this romantic WWII drama directed by Herbert Wilcox. In love with army major David Bruce (Rex Harrison), Lady Patricia Fairfax (Anna Neagle) soons finds herself falling for the charms of American flyer John Patterson (Dean Jagger) when he arrives at London's Grosvenor Square to spend some well-earned leave. After learning of Pat and David's long expectation of marriage, Patterson decides to do the decent thing and return to combat. His decision, however, soon brings events to a tragic conclusion for all concerned.
