His neighbours convince him to run for mayor of the town - and, to keep things fair, local hardware store owner Handy Harrison (Ray Romano) agrees to run against him. Everything is very amicable and good-humoured to begin with, but it isn't long before the friendly competition escalates into all-out political war - especially when Handy's girlfriend Sally (Maura Tierney) comes between the two candidates.
