When Jean White (Sally Lindsay, Cold Call), a renowned antiques dealer, is devastated by her husband Rory's tragic death during a regular French buying trip, she sets off to investigate in Sainte Victoire.

Discovering there was more to Rory than met the eye, Jean also uncovers a penchant for solving mysteries. Embracing a new life and new friends in France, Jean decides to set up shop in Sainte Victoire. With admirer Dom by her side, Jean continues to be drawn into mysteries, from minor offences to murder investigations, soon becoming indispensable to local Police Chief Inspector Andre Caron. However, she frequently tests his patience by following leads without him and thus putting herself and those around her in danger.
