HammerFall was founded by guitarist Oscar Dronjak in Gothenburg in 1993. The line-up has changed several times since then, but Oscar and singer Joacim Cans have always remained together. In The Legend of HammerFall, Oscar describes the band's journey, from their amateur participation in Rockslaget in the beginning of time, to the breakthrough with Renegade and the journey from Mölndal to the world's biggest rock stages. Oscar Dronjak lets us take part in fantastic successes and disastrous setbacks. He tells us honestly, ironically and straightforwardly about the turbulent years in the early 2000s, the recording in Tenerife where their monster hit Hearts On Fire was born (the album sold more than 300,000 copies worldwide!), as well as how Joacim was knocked down and almost lost his sight a week before a big video shoot. He also reveals how their tour manager ran off with the money after a long US tour, and not least how he himself had a serious motorcycle accident the day before the homecoming concert in Sweden. In The Legend of HammerFall, music and hard rock are given all the space they deserve.
