Architects and children are often fascinated by stairs – and Bertil is no exception! For over forty years, he has created and explored glass sculptures where the staircase is at the center as a lifeline and a supporting part of the glass shape. With a combination of a cube, a face and a staircase – three simple shapes – together with some colors, Bertil Vallien creates stories that awaken life and movement. These sculptures not only arouse the desire to run up and down stairs, but also to explore the magic of glass.
