Battlefield 2: Modern Combat is a first-person shooter video game that brings some role-playing as well as strategy game elements to the table. In the game, the player is given the option of leading either the NATO or the Chinese forces to victory in Kazakhstan. As the game progresses, it is revealed that both the forces have been misled into war by a terrorist group known as Burning Flag. It is now your responsibility to stop Burning Flags leader Commander 31 from launching the nuclear weapons on US, Europe and China. Equipped with various weapons, the Battlefield 2 Modern Combat PS2 makes the experience of war very realistic. The large selections of realistic maps, where the players can battle on, take your gaming experience to another level. Offering two gaming modes, namely Conquest and Capture the Flag, this game allows 24 players to play at a time.

The online play of Battlefield 2 Modern Combat for PS2 also supports the clan option, where a player can use another person as a back-up support for winning the game. In the Conquest mode, the player has to capture majority of the flags across the map. Two ticket counters are displayed on the screen, displaying the remaining tickets on each side when the players spawn towards death. During the Capture the Flag fights, the maps are trimmed and only the middle section of the map is playable. In this mode, flags are automatically captured when the player walks over them after which players must return to their base. While playing in teams, if a player gets killed, the other teammate can take the captured flags and return to the base.
