When underworld crime boss Munna Bhai (Sanjay Dutt) falls head over heels in love with radio broadcaster Jahnvi (Vidya Balan), he decides to engineer a meeting with her by assuming the identity of a professor specialising in the life and times of Mahatma Gandhi in order to take part in a competition held by her radio station. He soon discovers that none other than Gandhi himself (Dilip Prabhavalkar) has turned up in person to help him win Jahnvi's heart - and to employ principles of truth and non-violence to deal with a corrupt builder, Lucky Singh (Boman Irani), who has set his sights on the valuable property where Jahnvi lives with six elderly family members.
