Description: Interesting space-hunch from the Chilean Underground. Formed by members of La Banda's and others, the sound is open form free rock ditherage with certain similarities to the most fully-spronged outriders of the German 1970s scene. But this is a far cry from recent Sky Records recidivism. There's a neat basis to the proceedings and a weird thick pulse that is undeniable. Beyond that, you can almost catch the scent of alien poop on the breeze. Since 2008, A Full Cosmic Sound has been exploring different musical territories linked to expansive sounds. From the electronic / Industrial explorations of its early years to the current musical and aesthetic crossing that groups influences from rock, free jazz, electronics and post-Velvet deconstruction. The group was born out of inspiration derived from a shared psychoactive-inspired experience from three of the core members of the group in Brazil that involved a UFO-sighting. Though since its induction the project has had a line-up that is more of a revolving-door of participants than a full ensemble, this influential moments has stuck with them and inevitably continued to influence their sound. Over the years, the group was changing some members until they got a stable formation (which includes members from bands like Watchout!, La Banda's, The Psychedelic Shafferson Jetplane, Lagunas Mentales and Glorias Navales) that has been defining and consolidating a musical identity based on the control of harmonies, frequencies, time, space and repetitions generated through the use of keyboards, synthesizers, guitars and percussions. In between, the band toured Argentina, Brazil and Peru, performing with musicians and bands such as Blues Control, Sun Araw, Makoto Kawabata (Acid Mothers Temple) and Alan Courtis, among others. The ease and consolidation achieved by A Full Cosmic Sound, has allowed the group to perform with total comfort when facing some kind of spontaneous recording or collaboration. After a series of cassettes and 7 inches published in the last decade through labels such as BYM, Fabrica (NYC) and Volante Discos (Argentina), A.F.C.S. it's the first long play of the group. The A side of the album is composed of a selection of themes that appeared in his first musical deliveries, features current and former members of Chilean psych-ensemble La Banda's and Psychedelic Schafferson Jetplane which conjure up the sounds emitted by playing dusty early 'easy listening' electronic music records on your turntable, the psych/sonic explorations of Sonic Youth and Experimental Audio Research, and the echoes of Santiago's busy urban sound-scapewhile. It contains Murky spacey distorted fuzz-drenched jams with a hint of Spacemen 3 and a pinch of Joy Division-ish bass-lines thrown into the mix. The drum machines are straight out of Suicide and the bass from Pärson Sound. It makes for a heady mixture. The B side gathers the current sound of the band, where the pulsations coexist in harmony with dissociated sounds and deconstruction. The group develops a more controlled and enveloping sound than before. In a nutshell, it consists in a sonic exercise developed through a blend of harmonies, frequencies, drones and repetitions generated by keyboards, synthesizers, guitars and multiple effects. evokes rhythmic and deconstructive explorations of local bands such as The Jaivas and environmental passages in the wake of Popol Vuh.
