Together with his wife Jean, Carl brought energy and daring to skydiving by shunning planes in favour of fixed structures to jump from. However, his greatest passion was also his undoing when, days after setting a BASE jumping Guinness World Record with his wife, Carl died while attempting a solo jump off the Troll Wall in Norway.
